The district celebrated the recent achievement of Polk Street School vocal music teacher Christina Mehserle at the board of education meeting on Nov. 6.

Ms. Mehserle was honored by Congressman Anthony D’Esposito as an Outstanding Teacher in New York's Fourth Congressional District for her remarkable dedication to and impact on her students and school.

“This prestigious award was made possible by a heartfelt nomination from one of our community members, who took it upon themselves to put forth this recognition selflessly and anonymously,” Superintendent Dr. Jared Bloom said.

Ms. Mehserle was presented a certificate on behalf of the district, thanking her for all she does for the students, staff, community and families, as well as citations from the local officials.
