Statement of Qualifications of Teaching Staff

The Franklin Square Union Free School District follows all New York State and Federal Regulations regarding the hiring of only highly qualified teachers.


Teacher Qualifications
In accordance with the federal No Child Left Behind Act, parents and guardians have the right to request specific information about the professional qualifications of their children’s teachers.  As a parent/guardian of a student in the Franklin Square Union Free School District, you have the right to request the following information:

        -   if the teacher has met New York State qualifications and certification criteria for the grade levels and subject areas he or she teachers;

        -   whether the teacher is teaching under emergency or other provisional status through which the state qualification or certification criteria have been waived;

        -   the teacher’s college major; whether the teacher has any advanced degrees and, if so, the subject of the degrees.

Requests for information about qualifications of your child’s teacher(s) can be directed to the school principal.  All requests will be honored in a timely manner.
